About the Item

This rare pair of François Linke signed giltwood caned Louis XV salon chairs exemplifies the pinnacle of French decorative arts and the artistry of one of the most celebrated ébénistes of the late 19th and early 20th century. Crafted with exceptional attention to detail, each chair features a finely carved giltwood frame with rich rococo motifs, including floral garlands, scrollwork, and delicate shell accents. The original cane backs and sides are beautifully woven, adding both texture and lightness to the design, while the seats retain upholstered cushions for comfort. François Linke, known for his opulent interpretations of Louis XV and Louis XVI styles, was a master furniture maker whose pieces were exhibited at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle and commissioned by royalty and aristocracy. His work is highly sought after by collectors worldwide. These signed chairs are not only functional seating but also museum-quality examples of French craftsmanship. They enhance antique-inspired interiors with authenticity, bring glamour and refinement to Hollywood Regency décor, and provide a dramatic contrast in sleek mid-century modern settings. Rarely does a signed pair of Linke’s work become available, making this offering an extraordinary opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs alike. Measures 34.75 tall x 35.5 wide x 27.75 deep and seat height is approximately 17.75 inches give or take a little for cushion height.
