About the Item

A large library armchair of generous proportions and of outstanding quality in the country house manner. The chair displays a tall scrolled buttoned back leading to a pair of sweeping arms with a deep and wide comfortable seat. The chair is finished on beautifully turned front legs ending with oversized brass castors. The armchair has been fully restored and stripped back to the solid mahogany frame for upholstery with a refurbished coil spring base, with hessian lining and calico coverings added and complemented with a duck feather seat cushion. This armchair is truly exceptional and it carries the largest proportions of any library armchair we have been fortunate to have in the collection. Attributed to J T Scott, Edinburgh.
