About the Item
A refined set of four matching Louis XVI armchairs from France, dating to approximately 1770–1780. Each chair exemplifies the neoclassical transition of the Louis-Seize period, with balanced proportions, restrained ornament, and an emphasis on symmetry. The oval backs are framed by finely carved rails, flowing into gently curved arms supported by turned arm supports. The seats rest on elegant, tapered, fluted legs joined by understated stretchers, all characteristic of the period’s return to classical clarity.
The frames retain an aged, painted finish with a soft, time-worn patina, contributing to their authenticity and visual depth.
