Over the past two decades, a term describing a specific period of design has become the marketing descriptor du jour. "Mid-Century Modern" broadly, but also loosely describes the furniture from the middle of the 20th century. Crossing exquisite Scandinavian craftsmanship with function-over-form modern design is the defining characteristic of the era, and of this armchair.
This chair holds a soft simplicity and a uniqueness in its appearance - light, clean lines with an air of romance. This armchair has an unmistakeable shape, with a backrest that flows down to form the armrests that sit low, therefore opening the seat to create an airy, open look. Swedish design is a remarkable combination of concern for comfort and materiality melded with a desire for clarity, that is evidently present in the lines of this armchair. The tufted back’s buttons serve as the only form of ornamentation, therefore they stand out even more.
