About the Item
Using 18th-century chinoiserie-inspired Toile de Jouy prints as a creative template, Andrea Grossi designed a custom-printed leather that reinterprets the traditional fabric by incorporating pop icons and recognizable contemporary symbols, all rendered in his signature white and blue color palette.
The printed leather is applied to the sinuous and voluptuous forms of the Godia armchair by Gianluca Cozzarolo, transforming the seat into an immersive dance of fullness and emptiness. This interplay, inspired by natural forms and aesthetic biomimicry, is both enveloping and protective.
Its extravagant form offers us a more imaginative interpretation of Godia projecting us into a “Boteriano” world.
Toile de Jouy was part of Falling Into Life presented at Milan Design Week 2022, a tribute to early 20th-century Art Nouveau, combining organic lines, decorative richness, and free experimentation. The event explores the relationship between nature, art, and design, bringing projects to life that integrate impressive craftsmanship with innovative materials. The exhibition invites the audience to experience a unique sensory journey through the sinuous, sculptural forms of the pieces, telling a dialogue between the past, present, and future of design, celebrating the uniqueness and creativity of each project.
