About the Item

This is an exquisite gilded and carved set of five armchairs. The front and side parts are carved with scrolls that create a delicate carving effects. This set hails from Mid- 18th Century, Venezia, Italy. These armchairs are the result of the high level of craftsmanship of the master Venetian cabinetmakers achieved at the time of the maximum splendor of Venice, its Golden Age. Their carefully considered proportions, refined carvings, and premium materials culminate in a design that expresses sophistication and grace. These pieces are coming out from the property of noble Marcello family in Venezia Referring bibliography: Clara Santini, (one of the most important expert in Venetian furniture 18th Century) Mille mobili Veneti, Vol. III, Artioli Editore Modena, 2002, pag. 168, fig. 240 The pieces are in very good state of maintenance and they are guaranteed original in every parts. The surface was only cleaned not restored and it is original. The set of five giltwood armchairs has the Certificate of Authenticity. The documents will be shown on demand in case of interest. The fabric silk upholstering is a contemporary production, hand made in Venice, with an hand-printed designs
