About the Item
Incredible collectible 'Skaala' lounge armchair by Yrjo¨ Kukkapuro for Avarte, made in Finland, circa 1970. Featuring original burgundy red leather seat and back cushion, birch and tubular steel frames with sleigh legs capped with rubber feet.
*This was originally a set of 5, and 4 have sold therefore we have one chair left in stock, priced individually.
There is so much that make this chair great. First, the birch wood back and arms are so cool - making the chair excellent to float within a room where the back can be seen. Consider using as a office guest chair, the view of the wood back is a great way to set a great first impression when someone enters your office.
Second, the tubular chrome frame with sleigh legs are amazingly stylish. The shape is very 1970s but also works great with 1980s Postmodern and Memphis styles which are so popular right now with interior designers. Also lightweight, it is easy to grab and move.
Third, the soft and quality burgundy leather seat perfectly finish off the look on this comfortable and stylish lounge armchair. Very collectible with beautiful patina, very designer on-trend, very stylish yet casual and laid-back for those who don't need to be flashy to be noticed.
This Yrjo Kukkapuro Skalla chair would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern or Danish modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Postmodern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
