About the Item

This is a truly stunning piece of early Spanish country Furniture. Sourced in Northern Spain and beautiful for its primitive nature. The piece is made of chunky slabs of what I believe is chestnut. The front rail especially has a lovely tactile finish shown with the eye in the grain. The canopied top is a design element I have never seen before but I love it. The only issue with the bench is a replaced upright to the left hand side, a restoration that was undertaken in 1824 as per the date carved above the replacement piece. The settle itself is much earlier. Strong condition and perfectly useable and looks great when not in use. Height 178cm Width 193cm Depth 61cm
