About the Item

19th Century Italian hall bench was sculpted from fine walnut, and features an elaborately scrolled design including a boldly arched seatback embellished with foliate scrollwork and centered with a stylized shell shield motif appearing over an opening framed in matching scrollwork. The seatback flows to the scrolled armrests on each side, with matching scrolls appearing across the entire apron under the bench seat. Hourglass shaped side supports are connected with a molded stretcher. Perfect for hallways, stairwell landings, or cozy rooms! Circa 1870s. Measures 37H x 47.5W x 15D; seat 18H.
