About the Item

Hereby we offer you a rare chance to acquire a very unique piece from Brazil. This beautiful bench designed in the 1950’s by Brazillian architect Acácio Gil Borsoi, an architect that was born in the Rio region and moved to Recife, where he had a great influence and responsibility towards spreading modernism in the Northeast region of Brazil through his career. The bench itself is made of solid rods of Pau Marfim wood, which is a dense and creamy hardwood species from South-America. The frame is a very minimalistic shape made of wrought iron, and has brass tips for feet. The overall patina is just stunning, and is a true resemblance of Brazillian furnuture of the 1950’s. This particular piece was discovered in 2017 amongst a collection of Mid-Century Modern pieces inside a beach house property in João Pessoa, in the Northeast of Brazil. After researching it turned out that architect Acácio Gil Borsoi had designed them especially for clients thast were members of the Ribeiro Coutinho family. This piece definitly looks great in any eclectic interior or private collection, and would make a great investment.
