About the Item

Fabulous early 19th century hand carved bench with lift top seat for storage. This is a great piece with beautiful carvings on the seat back and front panels. Built by hand and made of a hardwood with mortise joints and dowels. The carved bench could be older than listed I'm not sure of the age or wood type but it is a hardwood and very heavy. The back panel is 1.38" thick and the bench weighs about 200 lbs, overall in good condition with a wore finish. Shown in the photos it does have some cracks and two screws have been replaced on each hinge. The carved storage bench is very sturdy and solid with lots of history a great piece.
