About the Item
This three-seat sofa or settee is made of hand-carved wood with many fine details and retains its original painted finish. Done in the Louis XV style and made in France with the time-honored method of peg and dowel construction the piece is painted in a two-tone color combination consisting of a light yellow cream ground accented with sage green paintwork on the raised carving. This effect creates a pleasant undulating Rocco line which highlights the light airy nature of the settee. The settee while not show in photos has with it a second inner seat cover which covers the diamond painted seating section that is upholstered in the same fabric that the armrests are done with. This frame has a caned center as well under the upholstery with a companion shaped frame. The seat and back are painted in a diamond pattern that is very lovely and this pattern makes the settee look rich and decorative. With the caned sections and movement in the frames design this piece would look great as is in a large hall, bath or bedroom but would look formal enough with the second upholstered section in place for a more formal living room seating element.
