Bench with solid teak frame, upholstered in green patinated leather. Made and labeled by Normina. 1930. Ernst Johan Charles Kühn 1890-1948, architect. Born in 8.11.1890 in Copenhagen. Parents, Shoemaker Johan Charles K. and Louisa Olsson. Travel and abroad. Study trips in the young years, later stays in France, England and the United States., Where K. worked at research interior design studios. Ernst Kühn was really known when he built the Palladium Cinema into the building of the old Industrial association (CPH). It became an example of the first real-life city cinema. The task was difficult, but it was possible to get a lucky room for the hall and the intimate restaurant Giraffen in connection with the cinema. The model used K. for other cinema and theater projects. K. was also known for his remodeling and decorations and restaurants and hotels that got a touch of mouth elegance. The experience of these works was especially obtained abroad and at Lysberg Hansen as the leading production of furniture, fixtures and expensive interiors. In addition, K. had an in-depth knowledge of and interest in the styles and their historical development, which he used in the restoration of castles and older buildings. He had a great deal of understanding to preserve the older interiors and combine them with the decor of modern facilities. K. also understood to build principles of functionalism, which Persilhuset is a good example of. Here was his ability to reach through the detail and material composition to reach a harmonious whole.
