About the Item

A handsome French 19th century Empire st. Mahogany and Ormolu bench. This wonderful rectangular bench with a fitted leather seat is raised by four scrolled legs with a bottom Ormolu paws below a palmette and Mahogany body. At the top of each leg is a striking open winged lion supporting the rectangular Mahogany apron which is elegantly decorated by a central Ormolu flanked by straight berried laurel bands. The apron is fitted with a brown leather rectangular seat and the back is styled in the same manner as the front.
