About the Item

A stunning and most elegant French 19th century Louis XV st. patinated and Giltwood bench. This exceptional bench is raised on five cabriole legs with scrolled feet and scallop shaped top caps. The arbalest shaped front apron has a scallop shaped central reserves with scrolling foliate decorations on either side with both side aprons decorated in a similar fashion. The rear elongated apron has a flat design with no central leg and substituted with gently scrolling Giltwood bands. Both 'S' scrolled upholstered arm rests are decorated by laurel carvings and intricately carved scrolling berried acanthus leaves on each hand rest.
