About the Item

An attractive and most impressive French 19th century Napoleon III period Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Fruitwood, Ormolu, Giltwood and Porcelain vanity/piano bench. This finely detailed bench is raised by four fluted and tapered Mahogany legs while being supported on topie shaped feet with Ormolu accents. Connecting all four legs is an 'X' stretcher with four 'C' scrolled legs having Ormolu rosette and foliate movements that present the central reserve. The urn shaped central reserve is raised on a fluted circular fluted Mahogany base containing Ormolu chandelles and an Ormolu socle above. The socle supports the mottled urn shaped reserve above which has Ormolu acanthus leaf decorations around the base. The mottled top caps of each of the four legs are accented by foliate designs and Fruitwood panels containing rosette designs edged with Giltwood above. The four identical straight aprons are decorated with a spiraling Ormolu band along the bottom as well as foliate designed Fruitwood panels edged with Ormolu bands next to pairs of fluted panels with Ormolu foliate chandelles. The Fruitwood panels and fluted sections both flank recessed Porcelain plaques of colorful floral decorations. The circular upholstered seat above is edged with a mottled Ormolu band which pairs perfectly with the shade of upholstery. *This bench swivels on a central spindle which raises the entirety of the seat to whichever level you desire.
