About the Item
George Faulkner Armitage (1849-1937)
A carved oak settle with carved half sunflowers and differing carved florets to the centres, with wide sweeping arms, stood on turned feet to the front united by stretchers with a moulded edge.
G. F. Armitage's best-known commission was for The Fine Art Society in New Bond St, London, where he decorated the interiors and designed all the furniture for the Fine Art Society’s showrooms in 1887.
All the furniture for that commission was made by Collinson
Lock of London.
