About the Item
A large and strikingly attractive Neoclassical blonde window seat bench in lovely antique condition. Likely made in the early 20th Century, in the manner of the late 18th Century French Directoire style, this rare and notable piece will add gorgeous colouring, timeless elegance and a sophisticated aesthetic of stately bygone grandeur to any setting.
This impressive and versatile piece could be used as an occasional bench, window seat, daybed or banquette bench, and is easily repositioned by virtue of its charming antique castors.
Crafted from solid pine and featuring lovely carved embellishments throughout, this Neoclassical beauty features very impressive, scrolled ears over panelled ends, which are flanked by tapering columnar supports above the complementary, elegantly turned legs set on antique metal castors. It has a large inset planked seat and features standout carved bordering throughout as well as geometric and floral carved detail in the Neoclassical Directoire style.
All in all this is a superbly attractive, rare and versatile seat, which will add gorgeous blonde colouring and a wonderful bygone aesthetic of Neoclassical sophistication to any setting.
CONDITION
This is in good antique condition. Structurally sound, it has been stripped, cleaned and refinished in clear wax and has only minor to-be-expected cosmetic marks and bumps to show its age. Overall it's an exceedingly charming seat in lovely antique condition and if well looked after it should be just as wonderful for generations to come – please see the photos.
