About the Item

This late nineteenth century French Gothic style oak coffer bench features ten hand carved panels in the lower apron and seat back, each with alternating Gothic motifs. Gothic columns flank the lower panels below the armrests. The seat of the bench is fitted with iron hinges and lifts up to allow access to the interior of the coffer. An ideal piece for a hallway or entryway, circa 1880.
