About the Item
This piece was first presented during Milan Design Week in April 2025, as part of the collaboration between the French luxury house Longchamp and designer-cabinetmaker Pierre Renart. For this occasion, Renart created two exclusive designs: a Wave leather banquette and a set of eight unique Ruban leather chairs. The pieces were unveiled at the Longchamp flagship store in Milan and subsequently featured in numerous international design and fashion publications, marking Longchamp’s first participation in Milan Design Week.
The Wave bench is a refined demonstration of wood virtuosity combined with contemporary design. Designed and handcrafted by Pierre Renart, it showcases the full mastery of his craft, creating the illusion of a single, continuous line carved from one piece of wood. Its flowing structure subtly underlines the delicacy of the leather upholstery developed by Longchamp as part of this collaborative project.
Crafted from American walnut, the bench is both sculptural and functional. Equally striking in an entrance hall or as a statement piece within a private interior, it embodies a balance between architectural presence and fluid elegance. The use of soft Longchamp leather adds warmth and sensuality, enhancing the sense of movement and lightness inherent to the design.
This work belongs to a collection of furniture called “Wave” created by Pierre Renart. Each piece is entirely handmade in France, signed by the artist and unique. Customisation is available upon request: dimensions can be adapted to the intended space; a different essence of wood may be selected according to preference and a different shade of leather can be also selected.

Pierre Renart
Pierre Renart (born 1990, France) is an artist, designer, and cabinetmaker, graduating as Valedictorian from the École Boulle in 2011. A tireless explorer of materials, he combines traditional woodworking expertise with advanced technologies, pushing the boundaries of contemporary furniture design.
His work is distinguished by the elegance of its lines and the seamless integration of function and form. Pierre Renart quickly gained recognition among collectors, notably with his iconic Genesis armchair. His practice spans bespoke furniture and spatial design projects for collectors, architects, decorators, and professionals.
In 2019, his Möbius Console entered the permanent collections of the MAD – Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, where it is displayed in the Marsan Pavilion. The Mobilier National acquired several of his works between 2020 and 2023, including pieces from the Ruban and Genèse collections. Since 2017, Pierre Renart has been based near Blois, France, where his large, state-of-the-art workshop enables him and his team to realise ambitious, large-scale projects.
