About the Item
The Santa Rosa bench is a simple piece of seating for the well appointed interior. Its clean lines, hand turned base, and wedged through tenons amount to a design that is at home in modern and classic settings.
We begin each bench with hand picked walnut boards that are milled on our well tuned machines. Each plank is chosen for minimal defects and straight grain. Once roughed out, every part is shaped with time honored hand tools and left with the tooling marks; rarely is sand paper used in our shop. Our work is finished with natural oils and waxes for a toxin free piece of heirloom funiture.

West of Noble
West of Noble is a Los Angeles based design practice dedicated to the pursuit of making wooden furniture by hand. It was founded by designer and itinerant woodworker Greg Mitchell in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 2011, but is inspired by a lifetime of travel, time spent on the sea, various odd jobs, wooden sailboats, and friends and family; without whom the company would not exist. Our designs are guided by the making process, and the unpredictable nature of our chosen material. We aim for the simplest line in each piece, believing it is only finished when there is nothing left to take away.
