A rare gem of Louis XIV Provincial craftsmanship! This petite 17th-century footstool brings Old World elegance to a modern interior. Made in Provence around 1690, the piece is finely carved from richly patinated Circassian Walnut and features the classic os de mouton ("mutton bone") base, a hallmark of the Louis XIV period, joined by a shaped central stretcher and resting on bold scroll feet. What sets this stool apart is its unusually small scale, likely crafted as a custom piece. The seat has been thoughtfully updated with a contemporary twist: crisp white upholstery embroidered with a stylized blue-gray spiral rose motif, finished with antique brass nailhead trim. A charming juxtaposition of old and new, this piece offers regal charm in a compact silhouette, ideal as a footstool, accent bench, or conversation-starting objet d'art.
