About the Item
This estate sale find is a design asset in many different spaces. It offers form and function for gatherings and guests. An antique Victorian tiger maple spindle-back settee
American or English, probably late 19th Century. The tiger maple quality is excellent and the wood patina is quite stunning, as the images suggest. The chairs and the settee, although tiger maple are not from the same set.
With shaped tablet crest and plank slat raised on 9 turned spindles, serpentine shaped arms on turned supports and plant seat raised on turned legs joined by a turned H-stretcher.
Dimensions: 32 inches high, 38-1/2 inches wide, 17 inches deep
CONDITION: This settee is in very good condition with a lovely patina acquired over time. The joints are tight and the construction is solid, but the wood does make a creak sometimes when two heavier people sit down. I was thinking there must be a hack for that. Perhaps the joints should be fed.
