This masterpiece of midcentury with a Nakashima style design, an exquisite French walnut slab rest bench with American walnut legs. This stunning piece of furniture was expertly crafted during the 1970s, and it remains in immaculate condition today.
The bench boasts a gorgeous live edge that goes all the way around, even on the long grain, showcasing the natural beauty of the walnut wood. The raised legs of the bench come through the plank, which acts as a comfortable pillow, allowing for a raised head while lying down.
This exceptional rest bench is held together with chrome butterfly joints that bind the live edge to the ends of the piece, creating a stunning contrast between the natural wood and the modern chrome. The end live edge is situated in a sliding mortise and tennon joint, further emphasized by the chrome bowtie/dovetail pins.
The entire piece has been finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax finish, highlighting the unique grain and texture of the walnut wood.
