Wonderful Louis XV style bergere armachair from the Napoleon III period with basket back, in natural wood molded and carved with flowers and foliage, arched arms and legs. This bergère armchair is a magnificent French work from the Napoleon III period, 19th century, and Louis XV style. The upholstery has been redone with a magnificent cherry pink and white toile de jouy fabric which gives this armchair a refined and elegant style. Its ideal dimensions make it an armchair that will find its place in any living room, office or bedroom. Very decorative and comfortable. The Louis XV style succeeds the Regency style. It is also called the Rocaille or Rococo style. The inventors of the Louis XV style are true creators in the modern sense of the term, revolutionizing the way of looking at furniture and interior decoration. In this respect it can be compared to the Gothic style and Art Nouveau in the sense that they represent creation and technical advances in the use of materials. The Pompadour, transition and Louis XVI styles will succeed the Louis XV style, which will remain an inspiration found in each of these 3 styles. Many Louis XV style rooms can still be found today in the Palace of Versailles. The Second Empire style, also known as Napoleon III style, is an architectural, furnishing and clothing style, born in France during the Second Empire, under the impetus of Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie. He enjoyed great success with the French bourgeoisie between the 1860s and the 1880s. Emperor Napoleon III wishing to surround himself with a sumptuous court, he tried to reconnect with the pomp of the First Empire and restore rise to French industry through its orders. While attaching himself to the conservation of old know-how, Napoleon III encouraged the development of new techniques. But the evolution of the decorative arts is due more to the action of Empress Eugénie than to that of the Emperor. The Empress is very attracted to the styles of the past, in particular the Louis XVI style. She gives an important place in her apartments to the furniture of Marie-Antoinette or to furniture inspired by her.

Very nice bergere armchair from the Louis-Philippe period, in the Louis XV style. Large comfortable but elegant armchair. The seat and back are well padded (as well as the armrests) to give it a very comfortable and soft seat. The legs are curved, the wood is solid and upholstery nails run through the bottom of the seat and the left and right sides of the armrests. This armchair is upholstered with a fine cream-coloured tapestry with vegetal and floral motifs, bunches of grapes, knots and foliage. The tapestry presents a fine and delicate decoration in light tones. Note: the upholstery has some marks of time (wear or tears) (especially on the edges of the armrests) France - circa 1800 The Louis XIV style is a furnishing style covering more or less the period of the reign of Louis XIV (1661 to 1715). This style is characterized by the majesty and richness of its furnishings. The Louis XIV style follows the Louis XIII style. The furniture is increasingly luxurious, but unlike previous styles, it is almost no longer inspired by architecture. There are two kinds of furniture: ceremonial furniture richly decorated with veneers and inlays (especially with André-Charles Boulle), solid gilt wood and bourgeois furniture in solid wood.
