About the Item

Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI Painted Bergeres ~ Armchairs will add both comfort and elegance to any room! Hand-crafted by talented artisans, each features frameworks fully carved from the seat back crowns to the tips of the legs, on all four sides. The shape of the frameworks evokes ancient classical style that dates back to ancient Greece and Rome. The squared "wingback" design transitions to long, sloping armrests supported by scrolled armrest supports atop tapered and carved columns with spiral fluting. Tapered and fluted legs provide support, with carved detail in abundance over the entire design including floral, foliate, laurel motifs and wheat bordering. The painted finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades, only adding to the visual allure. Relatively recently upholstered in luxurious mohair to complete your comfort! Circa 1890s Each measures 42H x 29.5W x 27.5D; seats 20H Available for pickup in the Dallas Design District, Dallas, Texas
