About the Item
Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI walnut Bergeres ~ armchairs is a remarkable combination of master furniture makers with exceedingly talented sculptors! Fashioned from sumptuous French walnut, each features a subtly curved seat back that joins with the more curvaceous armrests on each side, both of which are upholstered and topped with armrest pads. The generously sized seat works with this wraparound design to envelope you in comfort. The frame glorifies the sculptor's art, with a floral wreath flanked by sprays taking center stage, and rosettes atop the seatback corner posts, and acanthus plumes adorning the armrests and centered on the apron beneath a panel of Greek coin overlay. The entire frame's facade is connected with spiral ribbon trim throughout to bring the design together.
