About the Item

A pair of French Louis XVI style painted wood bergères chairs from the late 19th century, with oval shaped backs, scrolling arms, fluted legs and carved rosettes. Created in France during the last quarter of the 19th century, this pair of bergères chairs showcases the stylistic characteristics of the Louis XVI era. Each chair features an oval shaped back, connected to two arms presenting curving supports and scrolling knuckles accented with carved acanthus leaves. The chairs are upholstered with a used fabric in a fair condition and are raised on four fluted tapering legs, adorned with carved rosettes on the knees. The ensemble is painted in a soft color showcasing some distressing. With their Classical lines and subtle carved décor, this pair of French Louis XVI style painted bergères chairs circa 1880 will bring an undeniable touch of elegance to any home, whether placed in a living room or a bedroom!
