About the Item

A sensational French early 19th century Louis XV st. walnut canapé. Raised by eight impressive scrolled cabriolet legs with floral carvings. Each centered with a carved acanthus leaf pattern. Above is the exaggerated serpentine shaped back with three acanthus leaf carvings intertwined with carved Rocaille shells. With down swept sides and an exquisite double 's' scroll shape with carved leaves and cabochons. The padded sides, back and four cushions, all upholstered with a beautiful Damask fabric.
