About the Item

Elegant pair of Louis XVI period white ivory lacquer and gilt chairs, boasting exquisite hand-carved craftsmanship and gold leaf accents. Sourced from a distinguished private residence in Florence, these refined antique chairs are upholstered in luxurious multicolor velvet damask Ikat design fabric that blends warm neutral tones. Each chair is richly detailed, with hand-carved rosettes and alternating lacquer and gilt accents that highlight the craftsmanship of the period. The back is fully upholstered, allowing these chairs to be displayed beautifully even as centerpieces. These chairs embody the timeless grace of Neoclassical late 18th-century Italian design. Featuring the iconic Louis XVI silhouette with tapered fluted legs and an oval backrest, joined to the seat by a finely carved acanthus leaf motif. The side chairs are both masterfully crafted and finished in delicate white ivory lacquer with exquisite hand carved and gilt rosettes and leaf patterns. The seats are upholstered in a luxurious multicolor velvet ikat damask, blending warm neutral tones from blush pink to soft brown and pale green. The recent upholstery work has been executed impeccably, with expert craftsmanship evident in the refined trimmings: a delicate braid outlining the oval back and a cord finish around the seat, both hallmarks of exceptional quality and attention to detail. The fabric’s patterns add depth and sophistication, making these chairs versatile for both classic and contemporary interiors. The upholstery and padding are in excellent condition, stable sturdy and comfortable. Such pieces were not only designed for entertaining in style, they're also decorative elements in their own right! Sourced in a private Florentine residence are now ready for international shipping. The chairs remain in excellent condition, with stable structure, comfortable padding cushioning, and a beautiful original patina consistent with age and use. Minor color losses and light wear are stable and authentic, adding charm and historical depth to these late 18th-century pieces. Dimensions: H 96 cm, W 50 cm, D 42 cm, Seat H 44 cm.
