About the Item

A rare and sculptural example of late 18th-century Swedish folk furniture, this handcrafted armchair is made from solid pine and exudes the warmth, honesty, and elegance associated with both primitive and Scandinavian design traditions. Its rich honey-toned patina, developed over centuries, adds warmth and character to the chair’s organic form. Handcrafted in Sweden around the late 1700s, the chair has a tactile smoothness and soft sheen, thanks to a recent beeswax finish that enhances the grain while preserving its historical surface. The primitive construction, with its simple yet striking silhouette, makes this a perfect accent piece for interiors that blend rustic authenticity with modern minimalism. Though antique, the chair remains stable and fully functional. Wear, surface imperfections, and age-related marks are present and expected, and they enhance the piece’s unique charm and provenance. Dimensions: H63 cm × W51 cm × D34 cm Seat Height: 43 cm Condition: Excellent structural condition with signs of age and wear consistent with its late 18th-century origin. Beeswax-finished for preservation.
