About the Item

Set of 6 Italian ebonized chairs by Paolo Buffa, 1950s. Upholstered in Pierre Frey satin with bronze studs and rivets. Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) was one of the great figures of mid-20th century Italian design. With an exceptional ability to fuse tradition and modernity, he created elegant and sophisticated furniture that stands out for its enveloping forms, refined craftsmanship, and use of fine materials. Trained at the Polytechnic University of Milan, he collaborated with key figures such as Gio Ponti before establishing his own studio. His designs, created for firms such as Cassina and distinguished international clients, combine influences from Art Deco, rationalism, and neoclassicism, always with a playful and personal touch. Today, Paolo Buffa's pieces are highly valued by collectors and decorators, and some of his designs continue to be produced from his original archives, confirming the relevance and prestige of his legacy.
