About the Item
Distinctive vintage folding chair produced in China for the export market , retaining it's original "Made in China" label with the Chinese export mark "Huáqiáu" (Overseas Chinese).
The chair features a chrome-plated tubular steel frame paired with moduled plywood seat and backrest of imitated rosewood, presenting a restrained modernist expression. It's clean lines , balanced proportions and functional folding mechanism reflect a clear dialouge with European mid-century institutional and ulitarian furniture, reintrepreted in late 20'th. century Asian export production.
Solid hinge contruction and balanced proportions lend both durability and sculptural presence.
