About the Item

A stately and most handsome Continental 19th century Empire st. Mahogany, Giltwood, Ormolu and Leather armchair. This wonderful chair is raised by curved Mahogany legs leading to a carved rosette block decorated on the front with delicate Ormolu ribboned wreaths. The Mahogany base of the chair supports the leather upholstered seat cushion, and is decorated on the front with finely chased Ormolu rosace and palmette reserve. The demi lune shaped seat is finished in front by Giltwood and olive green patinated wood armrest carved in the shape of two dolphins, leading up to the leather wrapped Mahogany backrest decorated with Ormolu crossed ribbons.
