About the Item

A stately 19th Century Empire Style armchair crafted from Mahogany with detailed gilt carvings and a neoclassical print green silk upholstery. Featuring a gilt sunburst and Eye of God motif on the back of the chair and impressive gilt cherub arm rests, this chair is an excellent example of the imperial power's importance during the period. Roman and Greek foliage motifs carved on the back and arms of the chair delicately frame the chair. Truly representative of the Empire Style, the chair rests on two acanthus leaf motifs front legs and two rear saber legs. This handsome piece would add a strong visual accent to any important room. The chair is comfortable, sturdy and in good condition. Age and use is commensurate with age.
