About the Item

This is an excellent Antique Gustav Stickley Morris Chair (Model 332) and Matching Footstool (Model 300). Made in the early 1900s, the chair has the original golden oak finish. True Through Tenon Construction on each arm with slats on the sides. SIZE H 42.5 IN W 31.5 IN D 38 IN WITH 4 LEVER BACK RECLINER. The chair is marked with a Gustav Stickley signature decal. The leather on both the seat cushions and the footstool have been replaced with the finest quality leather. The stuffing is made from cotton and hair - NO Foam! (This re-upholstery job is one of the best we have seen!) There have been no repairs to either of these pieces. STURDY STRONG and ready for use in your home or office. SIZE High 40 inch Height the seat from floor 16 in the seat size 23 in by 27 in Gustav Stickley was a great artist. All of the furniture he made was "Through Tenon" Pinned. This is why furniture from 125 years ago still looks brand new. Reproduction furniture uses glue to "fool" buyers that it is "Through Tenon" construction. In the last 50 years or so, many Gustav Stickley and L&JG Stickley pieces have sold for $100,000 or more. They are true collectibles, but need to be in perfect shape and "untouched" condition. This is what makes them investment pieces. Please note: Most "Stickley" and “Charles Limbert” items and many Roycroft items online are reproductions, or outright fakes. For example, in 1974 a man named Alfred Audi, along with his wife Aminy, approached the widow of Leo Stickley before she passed. He purchased the L&JG Stickley company, along with the brand name "L&JG Stickley," and he manufactured furniture "In The Style" of the original Stickley work. Be careful of buyers who describe their items as being from a “Stickley School.” This is just a way to get you to believe the item is actually authentic, original Stickley. In most cases, it is not. We purchase most of our Stickley and Limbert furniture from well known collections in New York and in Philadelphia. We may pay a little more but we get the BEST. We have over 5,000 pieces of real Stickley, Roycroft, and Limbert furniture. We buy from collections in New York and Pennsylvania. We buy only the best. We pay a little more than other dealers, but we get only the very best. We don't deal with "problem" furniture. Watch 1stDebs for future listings of these pieces! BTW - We have dealt with original Gustav Stickley items (circa early 1900s) since the early 1970s in New York. For the last 44 yrs we have had a retail shop in Shamokin Dam, Pennsylvania.
