About the Item
Antiques of London
A charming 19th-century Victorian nursing chair, upholstered in a richly patterned floral tapestry fabric. These chairs were originally designed for nursing mothers, with a low, comfortable seat and supportive backrest, but today they are treasured for their elegance and decorative appeal.
The chair features a deep, round seat, beautifully proportioned for comfort, and a gently curved padded backrest, both upholstered in a traditional floral tapestry fabric. The upholstery is secured with decorative brass studwork, adding to the period detail.
It stands on finely turned mahogany legs, with the front legs fitted with original brass and ceramic castors, allowing for easy movement. The warm patina of the wood complements the floral tones of the upholstery, enhancing its authentic Victorian character.
