About the Item

Really nice set of Aluflex folding chairs designed by Armin Wirth and manufactured by Hans Zollinger Sohne in Switzerland in 1951. These chairs are really convenient because they're lightweight, and you can fold their seats. This means you can easily stack and store six chairs in the space where you'd normally could store just one chair. Even though they look transparent and light, these chairs are comfy and supportive, just like good dining chairs should be. They're made with tubular aluminium frames and seats and backs made of birch plywood that's painted. The seats have a nice, natural shape that makes surprisingly comfortable. These chairs are a great mix of practical and good-looking, perfect for dining or seating areas. A nice detail is the painted FDB mark at the backs of 6 chairs, this was probably the previous place where they were used, but we couldn't identify which place it was unfortunatley. Marked with the ALUFLEX metal tag at the back of the frames. Priced and sold in a set of 8, another set of 4 available as well. Over the course of his career, Armin Wirth has worked on a wide variety of projects, ranging from furniture and interior design to household appliances and lighting. His creations are characterized by their minimalist aesthetics and innovative functionality. Armin Wirth has won many awards for his designs, including the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. His designs have been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world and are part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, among others. Armin Wirth also taught industrial design at various art and design schools in Switzerland and abroad. He died in 2017 at the age of 77.

Really nice set of 4 Aluflex folding chairs designed by Armin Wirth and manufactured by Hans Zollinger Sohne in Switzerland in 1951. Known for their convenience these chairs are lightweight and have foldable seats allowing you to stack and store the four chairs in the space typically occupied by just one. Despite their transparent and light appearance they offer comfort and support just like regular dining chairs.
