A music box hidden inside this beautifully carved Swiss chair will activate when the chair is sat upon. A remarkable example of the intricate craftsmanship and artistic innovation characteristic of late 19th-century Brienz, Switzerland, this chair is skillfully carved from walnut. The chair showcases detailed inlaid cartouches on both the seat and seatback, each depicting an alpine chamois amid a backdrop of meticulously carved foliage. A functional work of art, the chair conceals a Swiss cylinder musical mechanism within its seat, designed to serenade its occupant when seated. As impressive as it is delightful, this chair is a perfect example of Black Forest craftsmanship at its finest.
