About the Item

Philippe Starck (b. 1949) Chaise Bob Dubois, Ca. 1987 Édition Driade, Italie Bois de poirier, assise en papier tressé façon paille, logo embossé sur le dossier H. 91 x L. 36 x P. 51 cm H. 35 7/8 x W. 14 1/8 x D. 20 1/8 in. Philippe Starck has always maintained an intimate dialogue with nature, which he considers not as a backdrop but as an intelligence to be listened to. For him, design must reduce its footprint, simplify uses, and respect resources. The forest thus becomes a model: balance, sobriety, silent efficiency. Starck draws on the plant world for essential forms, obvious structures, but also an ethic: to produce less, better, and more fairly. His objects seek accuracy rather than effect, sustainability rather than abundance. By advocating a concrete ecological approach, he questions our collective responsibility and reminds us that creating today means first and foremost preserving tomorrow, letting nature be our guide and reference point.
