About the Item

These chairs are made of Brazilian rosewood with leather cushions. The backrest and the seat of the chair have a natural curvature, which is a theme that is seen in many Brazilian mid century modern pieces. The unique style would make this chair a great fit for any type of contemporary, eclectic, or modern environment. While the chairs are of the same model there are small differences in size between them. This was quite often in Brazil during the 60’s as production was still artisanal rather than industrial. The chairs can be purchased as a set or individually. About the designer: Jorge Zalszupin was a Brazilian architect and furniture designer who was born in Poland in 1922. He moved to Brazil in the 1950s and quickly became known for his innovative furniture designs that blended elements of European modernism with Brazilian warmth and tropical materials. Finally, Zalszupin's influence on the Brazilian design community has helped to shape a unique design aesthetic that continues to inspire designers around the world. Zalszupin's work was characterized by clean lines, bold shapes, and a playful use of color, and he created many iconic pieces of furniture that are still popular today. In addition, his furniture is known for its high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, which results in pieces that are both beautiful and durable. Zalszupin's furniture continues to be highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts around the world, and his influence can be seen in the work of many contemporary designers who continue to draw inspiration from his innovative and playful approach to modern design. Zalszupin passed away in 2020 at the age of 98.
