Pioneering Dutch designer A. Bueno de Mesquita created this captivating "floating" rattan basket chair for Rohe company in Noordwolde, Frisia during the 1950s. The design exemplifies Mid-Century Dutch innovation with its distinctive cantilevered monopod metal base that creates the illusion of suspension, while the woven rattan seat provides both comfort and organic warmth. Crafted w/ meticulous attention to structural integrity, the chair features a gracefully curved rattan basket seat supported by a sculptural cantilever base. The metal framework demonstrates sophisticated engineering, allowing the seat to appear weightless while maintaining complete stability.
