About the Item

This authentic French side chair, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, reflects the quiet beauty of rural craftsmanship. Made from solid oak and shaped entirely by hand, its honest proportions and sculptural form speak to everyday life in the French countryside. The generously worn plank seat, splayed legs, and gently angled backrest reveal the hand of the maker and the natural movement of the wood. A warm, timeworn patina highlights tool marks and imperfections, giving the chair its unique character. Both functional and sculptural, it works beautifully as an accent chair or around a farmhouse table. A rare and honest example of French vernacular furniture from the turn of the 19th century, celebrating function, form, and the beauty of age. * We can pack and ship world-wide !
