This early 20th century upholstered armchair reflects the restrained elegance of Empire and Regency Revival design, combining sculptural woodwork with generous, lounge-like proportions. The form is architectural yet inviting, making it equally suited to a refined library, bedroom, or formal sitting room.
The solid wood frame—likely walnut or mahogany—features cut-out splat panels beneath the arms and gracefully curved supports that emphasize symmetry and balance. Subtle saber-style legs terminate in front casters, a classic detail associated with library and parlor seating of the period.
