About the Item

A charming oak English arts and crafts style child's rocking chair, the rectangular back splat centered with a delightful scene of 2 children at play. The plank seat rests on curved rockers centered by a stretcher. Nice old color and original patina. The artwork is signed May Gladwin in the lower right corner. Gladwin was known for a series of "Little Hollander" postcards and the present image is from that series. Gladwin did much of her work for the Raphael Tuck Company a famous producer of postcards in the U.K from the 1870's through WWII. The current piece dates from about 1910.
