About the Item

Simply an exquisite example of a late 19th Century (circa 1870s-1890s) Black Lacquer High Back Side Chair in a single family's collection for 75 years. Stunning hand-carved chrysanthemum motif, with carved stretchers and engraved bronze mounts. The overall condition is excellent. A crack is present on the chair's seat. Measuring approximately 47.5 inches H. x 16 .75 inches wide x 15.25 inches D. The seat height is at 15.75 inches. One other known example can be seen in the permanent collections of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
