About the Item

Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this very rare suite of five, ornately hand carved chairs featuring Twin headed Eagles sitting under Crowns with Armorial Coat of arms Polychrome painted in to the leather Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price. Where to begin! What a suite of extra large chairs! Fit for Royalty in a castle which is sure why they were made. These chairs are just under 1.4 meters tall, they are carved from every angle, the tops start with a Royal Crown, next we have twin headed eagles which have sublime wingspans and tail feathers, in the middle of the eagles you have leather panels which have been cut and Polychrome painted in the shape of a Royal Coat of Arms or Armorial Crest, not only is this leather painted it is also embossed, its held in place with huge brass floral head studs. The seat bases are also leather embossed and Polychrome painted, they have an almost Scottish Keltic feel to them, held in place again with oversized brass studs. The front and side panels are all carved in waves, the long elegant legs terminate in Claw Balls I challenge you to find a more interesting and important looking suite of chairs, they are sublime! Condition wise we have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom, there will be normal age and use related patina marks as you would expect, there are no rips in the leather and the frames are as solid as the day they were made Chair dimensions Height:- 137cm Width:- 46cm Depth:- 57cm Seat height:- 47cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
