Robert Wilson (1941-2025 Hamletmachine Chair, Ca. 1986 Edition XO, France Perforated metal corners lacquered gray Signed Robert Wilson and numbered 230 on the seat Model created for the set of the play Hamletmachine written by Heiner Müller and adapted by Bob Wilson H. 98 x L. 29 x P. 49 cm H. 38 5/8 x W. 11 3/8 x D. 19 1/4 in Designed in 1986 by the late Robert Wilson for the play Hamletmachine stage at NYU for the first time, this chair is one of the most iconic piece of 1980s design. Made of very simple industrial raw metal pieces this high back chair inspired by a chair Bob saw during his teenage years in Waco Texas is as much as a theater set, a chair and a minimal art sculpture. The chair was produced by French company XO in approximately 256 pieces and is no longer in production.
