About the designer: Miroslav Navrátil (born August 23, 1913 in Boršice; died April 14, 1999 in Brno) was a Czechoslovakian designer. He was one of the best-known product designers in Czechoslovakia. Navrátil was born in 1913 in Moravian Boršice near Zlín. From 1927 to 1930 he attended a master school for furniture in Valašské Mezirící, then until 1935 the Czech State Industrial School in Brno. In Brno he also studied history at the local Masaryk University. In the 1950s he became a member of the State Design Studio for the Development of the Furniture Industry (Vývoj nábytkárského prumyslu) in Brno. This studio provided the Czechoslovak furniture...
