Italian beech and metal DSC chairs by Giancarlo Piretti, Anonima Castelli, 1965.
Set of four stackable chairs, DSC model, with seat and back in solid beech wood painted in light blue with round section aluminum legs.
Produced by Anonima Castelli and designed by Giancarlo Piretti in 1965.
The “DSC Castelli Italy” brand is present on the structure.
Excellent condition, entirely restored.
Measurements in cm 54x54x76h
An iconic modern design, these chairs are very famous both for the artist who designed them, Giancarlo Piretti, and the renowned Italian company that produced them, Anonima Castelli, and for their use, often associated with meeting rooms, auditoriums and large classrooms. This is because it is possible to make them a single long row of chairs and because of their materials, steel and solid beech wood, which are truly indestructible. Today these chairs are also widely used in homes, they are beautiful in a dining room.

Giancarlo Piretti
Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1940. He attended art schools there and subsequently taught Interior Design. During that time, he was also designing furniture for Anonima Castelli. He has won numerous awards and has items in many museums, including MoMA, New York. He still lives and works in Bologna with his son, designer Alessandro Piretti.

Designed in 1965 by Giancarlo Piretti, the DSC-106 stacking chair is one of the most famous chairs Castelli ever made. It has become an integral part of design history and features in many museum collections all over the world. A timeless classic in every sense of the word.
Manufactured in 1991, the listed set is in a lovely pre-owned condition, retaining al its Castelli stamps and labels. The claret upholstery is spotless and fresh and wear is consistent with age and use. If you are looking for Castelli DSC-106’s — I’m your man. I can get a hold of large quantities and can always pick the best ones. Feel free to contact me. Can also re-upholster in any colour at your discretion.
